Aguada Fort

Goa is not only famous for water sports and Beaches but also for historical forts like Aguada Forts. The Portuguese built this fortress in the 7th century near Sankarim Beach in Goa (near the Taj Hotel). Aguada is a Portuguese word meaning a watering place. About 5 lakh gallons of water were stored here to fill the ship. This underground tank standing on a 4-column was very important in the past. This was the first stop in India for vessels arriving from Portugal, which was built to supply water to them.
 

When viewed from the castle, all four sides can be properly monitored, thus providing full protection to the Portuguese ships arriving onshore. The fort, built with red brick, is still standing with the wind in mind from the last so many years. A crate is a piece of stone cut out of a fire-rock. These stone fragments are raw, but in this case, a slice known as a thigh becomes surer when exposed to the rain. A fort built with such markings is at the mouth of the Mandovi River. From here, the river Mandavi gets to the Arabian Sea. A lighthouse was constructed first, and then a water tank was built. The lamp above the lighthouse was turned off every seven minutes to give a sense of shore to the ships coming from the sea; then the frequency of this lamp was changed for 5 minutes, but in 519, it was finally stopped.
