Phuktal Monastery

Phuktal Monastery is a sacred Buddhist monastery in the remote Zanskar Valley of Ladakh, India. It is approximately 3,900 meters (12,800 feet) and accessible only by foot or on the back of a mule. The name "Phuktal" means "cave" in the local language, fitting as the monastery is built into a cliffside.
