Martello Tower

Martello Tower is a historical monument in the small town of Chunar in the state of Jharkhand. The British built the tower in the early 19th century as a defence against the Marathas and Pindaris invading forces. The tower is named after the Martello Towers, built by the British in the Mediterranean region.

The tower stands at a height of about 25 meters and has two floors. The tower is built of stone and has a circular shape. The lower floor was used for ammunition and food storage, while the upper floor was used for surveillance and as a lookout point.
