Aguada Fort in Goa:
Aguada fort is situated on the Siolim-Aguada Road in Sinquerim (Candolim, Goa). The hilltop fort has two ways to reach it. The 4km long road from Sinquerim beach or the shorter 2 km steep climb.It is known for its Portuguese construction and engineering. A fresh water spring used to supply the fort with drinkable water, hence the name ‘Aguada’ which is Portuguese word for water. Aguada Light House:
Aguada lighthouse is a part of the Aguada Fort. This lighthouse was constructed in 1864 and is one of the unique and oldest of its type in Asia. The speciality of this lighthouse is that in olden days it used oil lamps to transmit the beacon of light every seven minutes and then improved to transmit light every 30 seconds. For a nominal fee, you can go to the top of the light house using stairs. The breath taking sight from the top is a relief for the sore eyes.
