Jay Ganesh Mandir In Malvan

Jay Ganesh Mandir In Malvan

Malvan's Jai Ganesh is famous for its religious significance as well as its architecture. Jayant Salgaonkar, an Indian businessman, historian, scholar, and writer, built the temple. The main sanctum is adorned with a gold-plated idol of Lord Ganesh and statues of Riddhi Siddhi. According to the locals, the best time to visit the temple is on the holy occasion of Makar Sankranti, when direct sunlight falls on the foot of the idol. Furthermore, Salgaonkars have named this Ganesha idol Jay Ganesha in order for him to bless all of his devotees with success in life.

Another notable feature of the temple is its walls, which contain Ganesha idols in eight different positions. The use of rich and soothing colors adds to the temple's beauty.

The Temple's History

According to the archives, the temple was built by Shri Jayantrao Salgaonkar, a renowned astrologer and author of the well-known book kalnirnay, an almanack that provides simplified information about the Panchang, auspicious days, festivals, holidays, sunrise and sunset.

Shri Jayantrao personally oversaw construction. Lord Ganesha, Maharashtra's Elephant God, is the temple's presiding deity. The idol is made entirely of gold. This main idol in the sanctum sanctorum is in the traditional pose, with the Lord's consorts Riddhi and Siddhi on both sides. Siddhi is holding a Dhol (Indian traditional percussion instrument) and a sword, while Riddhi is holding a pen and paper. The ceiling of the hall is adorned with eight Ganesh idols. One gets the impression that Lord Ganesh is looking benevolently at his disciple from all eight directions. The temple's interior is very rich, with soothing colors. Ganesh Jayanti is a five-day annual festival celebrated on the fourth day of Magh (month in Hindu Calendar). This is also the temple's anniversary day.
