Andheri is a Mumbai suburb that is located in the Western Suburbs. Andheri is divided into two sections: Andheri East, which is mostly industrial, and Andheri West, which is mostly residential. Because of the SEEPZ (Special Electronics Export Processing Zone) in Andheri, the area has a high concentration of software and BPO professionals.
Weekends in Andheri are typically spent exploring the Mahakali Caves, shopping in Lokhandwala, relaxing on Versova Beach and the nearby Juhu Beach and Chowpatty, or finding peace at Chota Kashmir.
The nightlife in Andheri East is active with Pubs and Restaurants such as Beryl Club, The Stables, Pharoh Pub, Ark 2.0, and many more. Shopping is concentrated primarily along Link Road and near the Andheri-Kurla Road.
The Fort is a bustling commercial district filled with colonial-era offices, chain stores, and street vendors selling everything from coconut water to used books. The Asiatic Society Library, housed in the Greek-style 1830 Town Hall, houses the original 15th-century manuscript of Dante's "Divine Comedy" and looks out onto Horniman Circle Gardens. St. Thomas Cathedral dates from 1718 and is filled with ornate monuments.
Versova Beach is a continuation of Juhu Beach towards the Andheri suburbs and is only separated from the former beach by a creek. Versova is primarily a fishing village inhabited by Kolis (fisherfolks) located near the beach, and it is a hub for the fish trade. The beach is relatively small but extremely popular for its massive fish market and daily fish auctions. The beach, separated from the village by giant rock boulders to keep it safe from the sea waves and tides, attracts tourists due to its natural beauty and surreal horizon views.
Lokhandwala Market
A trip to Mumbai would be incomplete without some nice clothes and accessories, and this is where the Lokhandwala Market comes in handy! This local market has grown in popularity in recent years and is now a one-stop shop for checking off all items on your shopping list during your next visit to Mumbai. The Lokhandwala Market is one of Mumbai's most popular suburbs near Andheri in western Mumbai. The neighbourhood is one of the most affluent in Mumbai, with a large commercial and residential complex nearby, but it is the long stretch of roadside stalls and shops distinguishes the much-loved Lokhandwala Market.
Chota Kashmir
Chota Kashmir is Bollywood's take on a miniature Kashmir. The park, located near Goregaon and overlooks the Aarey Colony, has an abundance of flora and a lush green velvet cover. The park also has a Kashmir Lake, which allows for boating activities.
Mahakali Caves, also known as Kondivite Caves, are centuries old and are located in Andheri, Mumbai's western suburb. The Mahakali Caves are a collection of nineteen rock-cut monuments built between the first and sixth centuries. The main cave contains Buddha figures, stupas, and several Buddha idols carved into the rocks. These solid basalt caves are a popular destination for history buffs and archaeologists. Surprisingly clean and well-kept, the caves are located far from the city centre and thus provide a sense of tranquillity.
Juhu Beach
Juhu Beach is Mumbai's longest and most popular beach among tourists. It is famous for its wide variety of sweet and sour street food with a typical Mumbai flavour. The surrounding area of Juhu is one of Mumbai's poshest. It is home to many famous Bollywood and TV celebrities, the most famous of which is Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow. It is not uncommon to see a star jogging on the beach.
