It is believed that Arjuna created Surinsar lake from Mahabharata. According to legends, once Arjuna shot an arrow on earth at the place of Mansar lake, that arrow came out at a different location, creating another lake called Surinsar lake. Previously it was called Surang Sar lake, which later became Surinsar lake as time passed.

When the lake's lotus garden reaches full bloom, the Surinsar lake looks as stunning as Dal lake in Kashmir. Surinsar Lake is situated 48 kilometers from Jammu city and can be reached by local or private vehicles via Jammu Surinsar Mansar road. Though it is advised to take personal vehicles as the in-route to Surinsar lake has many attractions worth visiting and traveling by local transport, there are chances to miss them due to timing schedules. 

To reach Jammu city, the nearest Airport is Jammu Domestic Airport and can be reached by domestic flights between Jammu and Other major cities of India.
