Mahanandi Temple

Mahanandi Temple is an ancient temple in the Nandyal town of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the eight famous Nandis of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself had blessed this temple with his presence; hence, it is a highly revered temple in the region.

Lush green forests and sprawling hills surround the temple complex. The main temple was built in the Dravidian style and is believed to have been created by the Cholas in the 11th century. The temple's main deity is Lord Shiva in the form of a Shiva Linga. There are also many other deities like Goddess Parvati, Sri Laxmi, Sri Saraswati, and Lord Ganesha.

The temple is renowned for its architectural beauty and is considered a major pilgrimage centre in the region. Thousands of devotees visit the temple yearly during special occasions like Shivaratri, Kartik Purnima, and Maha Shivaratri. Srisailam, situated approximately 170 kilometers from Mahanandi, is another important pilgrimage destination in Andhra Pradesh.
