Polem Beach In Goa

Polem Beach in Goa is mostly unspoiled and it is inhabited by both foreign tourists and by local fishermen who live in shacks along the shore or in the main village itself. Polem Beach is about one mile long and is crescent-shaped; one can view the entire beach from either end. Both ends of the Polem beach are consist of rocks jutting out into the sea. Polem Beach is the southernmost beach of Goa, it marks the beginning of the famous shoreline of Goa, being a stone’s throw away from the Goa-Karnataka border.

Polem Beach in South Goa is one of the least visited beaches by tourists, giving travelers the impression of a private beach with its pure white sands and azure waters. Tall palm trees form the border of the shore, which is shaped like a sickle, and one can see many landmasses amidst the blue waters of the Arabian Sea. This offbeat beach is the perfect spot for those looking for peace and tranquillity in the vibrant state of Goa and is ideal for having a picnic, sunbathing or swimming. Most of the tourists that come here arrive from the neighboring town of Karwar in Karnataka. The Polem beach, in fact, has more visitors from the town of Karwar in Karnataka than it has from Goa.

From the Polem beach, you can easily see the island of Anjdiv in the distance protruding out from the sea a few kilometers off the beach. The Anjdiv island is the destination of the future Naval base of India on the West Coast. The modernization and building of this base are in progress currently. When ready, INS Vikramaditya and its carrier fleet will be based at this naval base. One can reach the beach by bus from Karwar and Canacona. While there are no water sports at the Polem beach, there are a couple of shacks offering some of the most lip-smacking seafood of Goa. Polem is a small 670-meter-long sandy beach with small hills at its northern and southern ends. The beach and its adjoining hills make a small bay of the Arabian Sea here. The beach is tree-lined with casuarina and palm groves.
